By Kavita Chhibber

Each chart signifies specific things and the astrologer looks at each house, the location of planets in the houses, the mutual aspects and disposition and then arrives at his conclusions based on that study.

The birth chart is divided into twelve houses in both Indian and Western astrology. Your zodiac sign is determined by your date of birth. However, in astrology after calculations based on the date, time and place of a person’s birth, a different zodiac sign emerges. The sign that emerges is called the Ascendant or lagna of the person and the first house in the chart.
